Well, after a longggg day, I finally got to meet him for the second time. A very quick encounter, but it was worthwhile.
Me and my cousin arrived in London the day before, as we'd planned to meet Toni and her mum and stay over in a hotel. We travelled around London the night before, went to Kensington Gardens where Finding Neverland was filmed. It was so hot and muggy in the hotel room which didn't bode well for the day ahead, but no matter. We set our alarms for 5:20am and arrived in Leicester Square at about 6:15am. We had no problem getting to the front but there were quite a few people there so I'm glad we were there early. The day actually passed quite quick for me, we were with Toni, her mum, my cousin, we were near Emma and some other girls. We also met 2 guys named Dragon and Daniel who stayed with us for the whole day. We only had a few instances where snotty woman thought it was okay to stroll past us and stand in our space, which majorly pissed us off as we had been waiting a lot longer. They looked at us as if to say 'what's the problem?' The second woman who did it came through, we told her our friends were there
(they'd just gone down to Boots to get the camera fixed) and she immediately said in a snotty voice - 'well they're not here now are they, it's a free country.' Bring on the argument.
It ended up being a whole 13 and a half hours until we finally met him, the heat wasn't too intense as we were in the shade of the trees, compared to the POTC2 premiere, so it was bearable. It started getting a little muggy in the afternoon and around 5 we felt a few raindrops. Luckily it went away. By this point, the crowd had stood up and were surging forwards a little, I had to hold my A1 painting over the other side of the barrier and get everything ready because I knew I wouldn't be able to get everything out of my bag without being crushed. Whilst waiting, I dropped my painting twice onto the floor by the red carpet, much to the security guards amusement/annoyance. HAHA, it was very slippy in the heat. The second time he got out his lighter and pretended to set fire to it as a joke. They act grumpy but they're lovely really, hahaaa. I had a phone call off Safia and found out she was at the back behind me so I told her to give me her CD that she wanted him to sign and I'd try and get him to sign it for her.
He arrived around 6:15 I think, I wasn't sure of the time but he was quite late. We heard the screams coming from the other end and saw him walking up, looking might I say, extremely handsome. He went straight to the paparazzi and the press like we'd been told he would but he only did a few interviews with them before Jerry moved him to the fans. he went to the other side down the street first, so we waited and waited for him for 30 minutes or so.
Just as he got to our line, Jerry pulled him away as he had to go inside, so we were all like nooooo, but he said he was coming back out and waved. Meanwhile we saw Marion Cotillard who looked gorgeous in her red dress, but it had a weird back to it. I saw Jamie Campbell Bower and Michael Mann who were doing press interviews so we watched them whilst we waited. No one really came over to us except Marion who came down our line. She signed a few autographs including my cousins but stopped at me and I didn't get one. I did say to her that she had a nice dress and she turned, smiled and thanked me. What I found rude was she said she was going to come back out and sign, but when she did, she got straight into her car and left. Wonderful actress, gorgeous woman, seemingly nice, but not considerate.
It was about 45 minutes we had to wait for Johnny, and I must admit, even though he's renowned for signing, I did doubt him. I was worried after waiting 13 and a half hours by this point, he was just going to leave, he showed no signs of coming back, and the bodyguards all looked a bit 'eek,' when they saw us. Finally though, he came back out to much screams and headed up to the opposite end of our line, and made his way down. I began taking pictures but the zoom is buggered on my camera so most ended up blurry. As he got nearer I decided to leave my cousin to take pictures and I started to video. By this time Safia had somehow managed to get to the front and was next to me, haha, so I gave her back her CD and carried on videoing. He looked really really nice, he had on a dark suit, his purple tinted glasses which I could see through, and his hair was messy in front of him. As he got closer, his bodyguards were shouting that he was to use his own pen to save time but I asked them if he could use my silver pen as it wouldn't show up on my drawing or else. They nodded and I waited for him to come. As he got near, I saw him lean over to someone which I later learned was him asking Toni if she was okay and if she wanted to get out as she was being squashed. I have him on video signing my aunties painting, and as he got to me I had to ask him to sign my painting once or twice as he was looking up and it was on the barrier near the ground. He heard me, and from what I can tell on the video, said 'oh wow, yeah...' and took the pen off me. The painting slipped out of my hand a little so I apologised and I think Jerry lifted it back up. I have him on video bent over signing it. As he was signing it, I asked him/Jerry if I could have a hug or was it not allowed? Jerry told me they had to move on but said thankyou very much. Johnny straightened up and gave me the pen back whilst I asked this and looked at me and did a small shake of the head, but as he moved on he turned back and said to me something along the lines of 'very nice painting.'
I HAVE IT ON VIDEO. That's the exciting part, you can see him briefly look over at me to say it. I realised that's all the time I would have with him so I relaxed a little and carried on filming him go down the line. A guy behind me had pushed in last minute and all this time, was waving a stupid RIP Jacko sheet in my head which blocked half of my video and as Johnny moved on, I heard him shout: 'JOHNNY, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF MICHAEL JACKSON?!' Johnny didn't answer but I saw Jerry look away and smile, and the guy behind me shouted it again. Jerry then turned around
(and I have it on video to prove) and said '... uhhh, he's dead, sir.' It was so sarcastic, it really made me laugh and I could see Johnny trying to control his laughter as he heard it. What an absolute twat behind me. I videoed a little more and as he moved off out of sight, everyone began to disperse. The relief was huge, to have bodyspace. We put our signings back in the wallet and took one of the Public Enemies boards with us. We said goodbye to everyone and literally ran to the train station as we were late.
Looking at our pictures and videos on the train, my cousin has the most beautiful picture of him. It's like a professional picture, he looked up and away just at the right moment and it's gorgeous. I hate how I sound on the video though, my accent is so 'brummy'. It's awful! I hate repeating myself cos it makes me sound desperate, but at the time you'll do whatever you can for him to hear you, because you don't want to have wasted the past 13 and a half hours for him to miss you.
All in all, I really enjoyed the day, it was a lot more comfortable than the POTC2 premiere and we were around friendly people. It was a huge relief when Johnny came back out, deep down I thought he would but I had that niggling feeling he would just jump in his car like Marion. I know he's known for being so kind, but it's hard to believe how genuinely nice and thoughtful he is to his fans. What he acted like towards Toni was enough to prove that, and the fact he took the time to comment on my painting made the whole day worthwhile. When he first arrived, they projected an interview with him and someone on the red carpet out into the square and I found it funny when the interviewer asked him what suit he was wearing and he replied - 'uhh, it's just a suit.' What a normal man. I would never wait this long for anyone else, but his manners and his presentation are so so worth it.
THANKYOU.
It was nice to meet everyone. Thanks Toni, Safia, Carol, Emma, Daniel, Dragon and the girls. LOVE YOU ALL.
